John Sargent
Assistant Professor of Management

John Sargent is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management, Marketing, and International Business at the UTPA College of Business. He has a BS in Accounting and an MBA from Utah State University as well as a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior and International Business from the University of Washington. Before coming to UTPA in 1997, he was on the faculty at Florida International University. Based on fieldwork conducted in such locations as Cd. Juárez, Chihuahua, Guadalajara, Monterrey, and Reynosa, Dr. Sargent has published numerious articles examining Mexico's maquiladora industry as well as studies focusing on the organization and operation of Latin American business groups. He is active in a number of professional organizational and currently serves as the Director of Communications, Webmaster (balas.org), and Newsletter Editor for the Business Association of Latin American Studies.
